Triumph Motorcycles India is expected to introduce a new range of 350cc motorcycles in India around April 2026, as part of a move to make its bikes more price-competitive in the mid-capacity segment.

The decision is mainly driven by taxation. Triumph’s current 399cc platform falls under a higher GST bracket, while reducing engine capacity to under 350cc allows the bikes to qualify for a lower tax rate.

Rather than developing a new engine, Triumph is likely to modify its existing 399cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled unit. This is expected to be done by reducing the bore while keeping the stroke the same, bringing displacement just under 350cc.

As a result, power output will likely drop slightly—by around 3 to 5 horsepower from the current ~40 hp and 37.5 Nm—while tuning is expected to focus more on low- and mid-range torque.

The new platform is expected to be used across multiple models made in India, including versions of the Speed, Scrambler, and Speed T4.

Final specifications and names are not confirmed yet, but the motorcycles are likely to retain the same design, build quality, and features seen on the current 400cc models.

The existing 400cc range is not expected to be discontinued and will continue for export markets. The 350cc lineup will instead be added alongside it, aimed at strengthening Triumph’s presence in the domestic market. This will put it in closer competition with brands like Royal Enfield, as well as offerings from Honda and Classic Legends.

There are also indications that Bajaj Auto may explore a similar approach for other models, including those associated with KTM, although no official details have been announced yet.
